Sharib Hashmi Biography

Sharib Hashmi is a Bollywood film actor, best known for playing protagonist in Bollywood movie, Filmistaan written & directed by Nitin Kakkar. The movie screened at different film festivals and winning National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi in 2013, it was released on June 6, 2014 in theatres. This upcoming actor is well praised for his lead role in this movie. He made his film debut through the great movie, Slumdog Millionaire and also played a pivot role in Yash Chopra’s last directorial venture, Jab tak hai jaan in 2012.

He was born and brought up in the western suburb of Mumbai in Malad.  He was born in 1979 to Z. A. Johar, a noted film journalist. Thus he started loving the film world since his young days. He was a movie buff during his younger days. He started as an Assistant director in films and also wrote for television shows during his first phase in entertainment industry. He has worked with MTV and Channel V as a writer. He also wrote anchor scripts for various reality shows as a freelancer. But his real dream was to become an actor. He appeared in bit roles for many shows on MTV and Channel V. He also appeared in bit roles in movies like ‘Haal–E–Dil’ and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

He also appeared in a short film called ‘Mehrooni’. Later he took up a job at UTV Bindass, where he received two movie offers ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ and ‘Filmistaan’. When the company refused to give him a leave, he quit the job. But both these movies gave him big breakthrough to his film journey.
