Shalil Kallur Biography

Shalil Kallur is a film director from Malayalam cinema, who has directed two movies till now. He is also a producer and screenwriter. He has also directed music albums and documentaries. He made his directorial debut with 2013 Malayalam film, Doll. The movie also gave break to Dubai-based cameraman Anil Eswar in movies, and later they worked together in 2015 film, Kattumakkan also. Both his movies were panned by critics, and went unnoticed. In 2018 he marked his acting debut through Malayalam movie, Kalippu, playing the supporting role of Chakravani.

Shalil Kallur hails from Annamanada, Thrissur. He started his professional career with short films, music videos, telefilms, TV shows and documentaries before promoting to film direction. At first he shot a video for a music album. Later he made Manasa Smaraami, a documentary on renowned comedy actor Mala Aravindan, belonging to his neighbourhood. Reality of UAE and Gulf Script are the documentary films he made later. He also made telefilms such as Perunaal Raavu, Thambu, Meghangal and Theeram.

After directing a few telefilms for television channels, he started directing television shows. He worked with Jeevan Television for a while, where he worked as a director and producer. Mahabalithamburan Varunnae and Mayaviyude Albuthalokam are the shows he directed for the channel, before he made his feature film debut through Dolls in 2013. 2015 film, Kattumakkan was his second release. Both his low-budget films received negative reviews from critics, and sank without any traces. Shalil Kallur is credited to introducing Anil Eswar to film scene. Anil Eswar did the cinematography for both his movies. He currently works as the managing director of production house, MJS Media.
