Sayani Datta Biography

Sayani Datta is a popular Bengali film actress, known for supporting roles. She is associated with Bengali cinema since 2012. Na Hannyate (2016) - the thriller directed by Subhrajit Mitra is her latest release, where she was seen in a supporting role. The movie inspired by Agatha Christie's celebrated novel, Cards on the Table, also starred Barun Chanda, June Malia and Tanushree Chakroborty in lead roles. 2012 film Na Hannyate marked her film debut, followed by Shada Kalo Abcha, Jijibisha and Ek Je Ache Sohor. Her first break to films was given by Riingo Banerjee, who casted her in her first two films - Na Hannyate and Shada Kalo Abcha back to back.

Sayani Datta is a Bengali girl from Howrah. Her father Subhas Datta is an environment activist, while her mother Swati Datta is a homemaker. Her education was completed at St. Thomas Church School and University of Mumbai. She is a trained belly dancer. She made her film debut through a relationship tale told by Riingo Banerjee, Na Hannyate in 2012. She played parallel lead in the film which also starred Roopa Ganguly, Rahul, Priyanka etc in the pivot roles. “Na Hannyate is the story of family of husband, wife and two children. Sayani played Roopa Ganguly’s daughter in this flick. Since then she is literally rising in her film journey.

She was not actually intended to join film industry. She was interested in visual arts. When she was offered the debut film she accepted it ‘just to try’ this medium and she succeeded. With its success she received more film offers and she stayed here. She also attended a few workshops. She played a model and wife in her second film - Shada Kalo Abcha, a thriller.
