Saravanan Naan Biography

Saravanan Naan is an Indian film actor associated with Tamil cinema. He played a magnificent role in the huge success of 2018 Tamil blockbuster Ratsasan, where he played the antagonist Christopher/ Annabella George’s role. He also portrayed the character’s mother Mary Fernandez in the movie which received rave reviews from all corners. Quite interestingly, his identity was revealed only after the major success of the movie. Saravanan Naan has earlier done small roles on Tamil screen, and has spent three years behind this life-changing role where he essayed a psycho. He has earlier appeared in Vijay Antony's 'Naan'.

 

Vishnu Vishal's crime thriller flick Ratsasan released in 2018 received wonderful reviews all around. Apart from powerful script and direction, the spine chilling villain’s role also played an important role. The film earned crores of business. When audience were in search of the face behind the villain who played three different roles in the film, most notably Christopher, his identity was kept under covers for more than one month after film’s release. Interestingly the actor never appeared in his real looks anywhere in the film.

 

Saravanan Naan played bit roles on Tamil screen before, yet none could propel his career ahead. He has been in search of good roles for many years before he bagged villain’s role in Ratsasan. He spent three years to prepare for the role. At first he deeply studied the behaviour of mental patients. He also learnt magic and reduced his body weight to make him fit to the role. He followed intense body exercises and reduced intake of food, to reduce weight. He also took fasting for a few days, and drank a lot of sour water to reduce weight fast. For the same reason he had to face a lot of difficulties to shoot the action sequences of film’s climax.

 

He went bald for more than 50 times for the role, and woke early in the morning to do makeup which lasted for nearly 4 hours every day. Makeup allergy caused him rashes in neck and other body parts. He learnt magic, by standing in front of a big mirror. Costumes, body movement and facial expressions – the role was tailor made for a powerful villain, and Saravanan played the role convincingly winning accolades.
