Sanjiv Chaturvedi Biography 
Sanjiv Chaturvedi is an Indian Forest Service Officer and activist who has been awarded with Ramon Magsaysay Award for emergent leadership in 2015. He is currently serving as Conservator of Forest (Research) at Haldwani in Nainital District of Uttarakhand. Before that he was posted as the deputy secretary at AIIMS. Best known for Haryana Forestry scam case, he has been associated with many similar scam cases related to the destruction of forests and natural resources. He worked with Government of Haryana from 2005 to 2012.
Sanjiv Chaturvedi completed his engineering degree from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology and later joined IFS in 2002 cadre. He was ranked second in the IFS exam. He was first posted in Kurukshetra. One of the notable cases first filed by him was against contractors on charges of large scale illicit tree felling and poaching hog deer in the nearby Saraswati Wildlife Sanctuary. He got transferred to Fatehabad on 30 May 2007. In Fatehbad, Chaturvedi found that huge sum of of public money were spent on a private land belonging to local Congress man Prahlad Singh Gillakhera. When Gillakhera became Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Forest, Chief Minister of Haryana, Hooda, suspended Chaturvedi without specifying any reason.
His suspension order was revoked by the President in January 2008, and Haryana Government had to transfer management of this land to Harayana Forest Department. It was only the beginning of his ‘save forests’ campaign. He was later transferred to Hisar, and Chaturvedi exposed yet another fake plantation scam. The plantation scam allegedly involving Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kiran Chaudhary and others was biggest among the scams exposed by Sanjiv.
Chaturvedi reported facing severe harassment after exposing multiple scams, including harassment from Haryana government. He requested a Central Government deputation in 2010, and also complained of harassment to the President Pratibha Patil. In between 2008 and 2014, the President of India passed 4 orders in support of Sanjiv and quashing Hooda Government's orders. In May 2012, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary in AIIMS under health ministry. Whistleblower Officer exposed several corruption cases at AIIMS also.
