Sanjay Narvekar Biography

Sanjay Narvekar is a noted Indian actor of theatre as well as cinema. He works both in Hindi and Marathi. As an actor, he is most known for supporting and character roles. For the 1999 Hindi movie, Vaastav, he got a nomination at Filmfare for best supporting actor. He played the role of Sanjay Dutt’s sidekick 'Dedh Phutiya' in this critically well acclaimed movie. His association with actor Siddharth Jadhav is very popular and together they have given many memorable scenes in Marathi cinema. Narvekar has given numerous memorable roles of which many of them have comic touch.

Narvekar, born in a Marathi/Konkani speaking Daivajna family and the family now resides in Powai, Maharashtra. His son Aryan S. Narvekar has most recently made debut in Marathi movies through Bokya Satbande. Narvekar first appeared in a stage play as a substitute and it was during his college days. Narvekar sidekick roles are most popular. He has appeared in Bollywood movies like Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, Ek Aur Ek Gyaarah, Deewar, Indian, Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, Pyasa, Ehsaas, Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar, Fiza, Hungama, Kismat, Jaane Hoga Kya and Chand ke paar chalo. He has done more than 25 Bollywood movies though roles offered are small.

Narvekar is one of the most popular stage actors of professional theater at present. He has been a part of Marathi stage plays like Rangya Rangeela re, KheliMeli, Adhanthar, Ashi Paakhare Yeti, Lochya Zala Re, Hamidabaichi kothi, Aamachya sarakhe aamhich and Zol Bachchan. His Marathi movies include - Tula Shikwin Changlach Dhada, Lagnacha DhoomDhadaka, Nau Mahine Nau Diwas, Aga Bai Arrecha!, Sarivar Sari, Chasme Bahaddur, Checkmate, Khabardar and Target- The Lakshaya. His latest play ‘Bajirao Mast Me’ is creating waves all over Maharashtra.
