Sanjay Leela Bhansali Biography
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an Indian film director and the founder of the film production house named SLB Films. He is also a film producer and a music director.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali was born on 24th February 1963 in Mumbai in India. His father’s name is Naveen Bhansali and his mother’s name is Leela Bhansali. His mother tongue is Gujarati. After completing his studies at the Film and Television Institute of India, he started his career as an assistant to Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
After a short span of time, he was not in good terms with Vinod Chopra and so he came out and directed his first film Khamoshi: The Musical. Though this film was a commercial success it was critically welcomed. His second film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was a great success and won many awards.
He filmed the novel Devdas in the same name and it turned out to be the highest grosser of the year. It was submitted on behalf of India for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was premiered at Cannes and got good reviews. His film Black was selected as the fifth of the Top 10 Best Movies of the Year 2005 by the Time Magazine. It won eleven Filmfare Awards breaking the records. He was selected to direct the opera ballet of 1923 named Padmavati for the Theatre Du Chatelet in Paris.
He served as a judge on the music talent show X Factor season 1 and season 2. Some of the films that he has directed include Khamoshi: The Musical, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Black, Saawariya, Guzaarish and Ram Leela.
