Sana Althaf Biography

Sana Althaf is an upcoming film actress of Malayalam cinema who plays lead roles and supporting roles. Made her debut with 2014 movie Vikramadithyan in a supporting role, she bagged her first lead role - Mariyam Mukku (2015) opposite Fahadh Fazil. She was also seen in a supporting role in Manju Warrior starrer Rani Padmini in 2015. The movie with Sana in the lead - Mariyam Mukku was a critical and commercial failure, while both her movies in supporting roles met with critics’ appreciation and box office success. One of the youngest lead heroines of Malayalam at present (age only 16) she has a promising career ahead.

Sana Althaf was born 6 June 1999 in Ernakulam, Kerala. She schooled at Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya in Kochi and started her professional career as a television host. She also practises Karate at home and is a black belt holder. She hopes to pursue her studies in commerce. Sana never wanted to become an actress. Instead she dreamt a career in martial arts, dancing and literary fields, and wanted to build a career in anyone of these. She loves reading and has been passionate about dance forms since childhood.

She made her film debut as a supporting actress through the commercial masala, Vikramadityan starring Dulquer Salman, Unni Mukundan and Namitha Pramod. She played Dulquer Salman’s onscreen sister in the film. Very soon she bagged her first lead role opposite the stylish Fahadh Fazil in Mariyam Mukku (2015), which failed at box office. She played the role of a paraglider in her recent release – Rani Padmini. The new kid of the block, she is being paired with Unni Mukundan for a fantasy film by Binu S of ‘Itihaasa’ fame.
