Samala Bhasker Biography

Samala Bhasker is an Indian cinematographer who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. He started his independent career in 2009 with the film, Sasirekha Parinayam directed by Pasupuleti Krishna Vamsi, and in the span of past 1 decade, he has worked in a few Marathi and Hindi films too. He has done over a dozen of film projects till now. Shooter (2014) is his single Bollywood film, while Just Gammat (2015), Yedyanchi Jatra (2012) and Popat (2013) are his Marathi film works. He has worked with some of the leading directors of Telugu film industry such as Vamsi Krishna Naidu, M. S. Raju, Satish Rajwade etc.

 

Samala Bhasker hails from Warangal, Telangana. He was born on 08 December 1975 as the second child to Laxminarayana Samala and Suguna. He has two siblings. His father is a coal mine employee in SCCL. He married Soujanya in 2007 and has two kids. Because of the characteristics of his father’s job the family shifted frequently to different parts of Telangana, where the three children grew up. Bhasker was born in Warangal, and later he did his schooling fromBellampalli, Godavarikhani, Mancherial etc.

 

To pursue a career in films behind camera, he studied Master of Fine arts in Photography from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), Hyderabad. After specializing in photography he worked in south Indian film industry initially. Sasirekha Parinayam was his first film was a full-fledged cinematographer. He made his Marathi debut with Yedyanchi Jatra (2012) and Bollywood debut with Shooter in 2014. Some of his Telugu movies include - Raja Cheyyi Vesthe, W/O Ram, Columbus, Dongaata, Ayyare, Three etc.
