Sachi Biography

Sachidanandan, shortly called Sachi is a budding screenwriter and director of Malayalam cinema. He is a criminal lawyer also. Most recently in November 2015, his debut movie as a director was released – Anarkali. It’s Prithviraj’s third blockbuster in a row after Ennu Ninte Moideen and Amar Akbar Anthony and it’s running in full packed houses. Similar to other two recent hits of Prithviraj this one too is directed by a debutant director. Sachi is also known as a successful scriptwriter. He along with Sethunath forms the successful screenwriter duo - Sachi-Sethu, who has delivered some decent hits like Chocolate, Robinhood etc. Sachi has also written scripts independently. Run Baby Run – was a super hit while Chettayis bombed at box office. This screenplay duo is known for their association with actor Prithviraj for most of their projects.

Sachi and Sethu were roommates and used to watch movies regularly at theatres. One day, they suddenly decided – Why can’t we write a film? That’s how they wrote the first film script. Once the script was completed, they approached several directors, but were not able to convince any. So they decided to direct the movie. Though they didn’t have any film connections, they almost finalized the script with Bollywood actor Atul Kulkarni. But somehow the project didn’t take off. Seeing their efforts, the director Shafi approached them and asked them to write the script of Chocolate. The movie was a hit at box office.

Film offers came pouring in and Robinhood was their second release, though its script was written before Chocolate. Together they wrote the script of many hit movies like Makeup man, Seniors, and the final one – Doubles. After that they worked for independent scripts and Mallu Singh and Cousins are the hit movies of Sethu as an independent screenwriter.
