S. D. Aravinda Biography

S. D. Aravinda is a film director and music composer who works in Kannada film industry. He is the grandson of the legendary Kannada comedian Narasimharaju. He made his documentary debut with Avalokana, a cultural video magazine, and film debut with 2010 movie Jugaari as a director. The film was critically well acclaimed. After a hiatus of 6 years he returned to Kannada cinema through the movie, LastBus, which he produced and composed music as well. He later composed music for two movies - Ditta Hejje and MOJO both released in 2017 and directed the movie, Mataash in 2018. As a film director, he directed three Kannada movies, and composed music for three, with two of them belonging to other directors.

 

S. D. Aravinda is associated with entertainment industry since 1997. He holds a degree in Mass Communication. Soon after completing his academic studies in 1998, he joined television industry. Born into a family of artists and actors, Aravinda too chose the field of entertainment. Though his grandfather Narasimharaju was a legendary comedian, Aravinda chose to remain behind the camera. He joined Doordarshan and started off with a programme on his grandfather, titled Haasya Chakravarhi. His aunt also worked along with him.

 

In 2010 he marked his film debut with Jugaari. In 2016 he produced and directed psychological thriller, Last Bus, and composed its music as well. The film was a box office hit. The movie also marked his debut as a music composer and he later worked as a music director in the industry for a couple of films directed by other filmmakers. In 2018 he returned to direction with comedy cap film, Mataash based on demonetization. It was a fictional account based on true incidents that everyone will relate to.
