Roshni Sharma Biography 
Roshni Sharma is an Indian bike rider who made a solo bike ride from Kanya Kumari to Kashmir, first one of this kind in India, among female riders. Twenty-six-year-old software engineer from Bengaluru set this new and unique record in the year 2014 and became the first Indian woman who rode from southern tip of the country to the northern extreme end. Her journey ended in Leh, covering 11 Indian states. Before this adventurous journey, the most she had ever travelled on a bike was 850 km.
Since young she was always into travelling and adventure activities. She eagerly waits for weekends to go for trekking. She loved cycling and mountaineering, and has been fond of bikes since young. Sharma rode her first bike at the age of 16, but she didn't stop at just driving around traffic jams. She became the first Indian woman to ride a motorbike from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
Roshni, who started from Kanyakumari on one Saturday evening at 8 am, completed 1,200 km in one and a half day. She planned to reach the destination in 12 days and total expense of the journey cost around 1 lakh Indian rupees. She tried hard to get a sponsor but did not find any. As she didn’t want to cancel the trip, she used her savings to cover the expenses. When there are a lot of concerns over woman safety in India, Roshni successfully completed the task as a solo rider, which makes her attempt unique.
Her mentor, M.A. Kaleem, prepared her mentally for this trip. As a part of the preparations, she enquired with bikers around the country about the places through which she has to pass. She also booked hotels in advance, where she had to stay at night. She also carried pepper spray for her own safety. Her aim was to reach Limca Book of Records as she had never heard before, a solo attempt of an Indian female to cover this much distance between two extreme points. For this purpose she had a tracker in her bike which sent them her location every second.
