Roopesh Peethambaran Biography

Roopesh Peethambaran is a film actor and director associated with Malayalam cinema. He started off as a child artist with 1995 Mohanlal blockbuster, Spadikam, where he played the much noticed role of the star’s childhood and made his directorial debut through Theevram in 2012. In 2017 he made his acting debut through the hit film - Oru Mexican Aparatha where he essayed the role of KSQ Leader opposite to Tovino Thomas. He is currently associated with a short film, Short, where he plays lead role.

Roopesh was born on 22 August 1986. He started off his acting career at the age of 8-9, when he played Mohanlal’s childhood role in Spadikam. The film achieved a cult classic status over the years, and Roopesh’s significant role is not easy to forget. He also appeared as a child artist in Dooradarshan series, Pranavam the following year. Later he fully quitted from acting and completed his studies. He worked as an IT professional in Bangalore before he forayed to films for the second time.

This time, he forayed as a director. He scripted and directed Theevram in 2012, a neo-noir crime thriller with Dulquer Salman playing the male lead. It was Dulquer’s third release and the movie opened to mixed reviews from critics and audience. After three years, he returned with You Too Brutus starring Asif Ali, Sreenivasan, Tovino Thomas and Honey Rose. The movie fared well at box office. Roopesh scripted the movie as well.

In 2017, he returned to his acting field after 2 decades, by playing KSQ Leader in one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Oru Mexican Aparatha. The movie was a major success at box office, and remained in limelight for the subject chosen. Roopesh had to reduce 20 kilos for this movie.
