Ritu Rani Biography

Ritu Rani the Indian Field Hockey Captain who playes at half back position was born on on 29 December 1991 in Kurukshetra, Haryana. She attended Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sr. Higher Secondary School in Shahabad Markanda and completed her higher Secandory. She joined and trained with Shahbad Hockey Academy in Shahabad Markanda starting at the age of twelve. 

Ritu Rani was selected in the senior team in 2006 for the Asian Games in Doha. She was also the part of Indian field hockey team for women that played the 2006 World Cup in Madrid when she was still under fifteen. Ritu Rani was the youngest in the Indian team in 2006 World Cup Indian team. The Indian team that won at the 2009 Champions Challenge in Kazan at Russia Ritu Rani finished as the top scorer with eight goals to her name. 

Ritu Rani was appointed the captain of the Indian team in 2011. The Indian team led by Ritu Rani finished third at the 2013 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur and the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Ritu rani was offered a job in Indian Railways but she resigned in 2014 and joined Hariyana Police. 

Ritu is 23 but one of the most experienced players of the Indian hockey team making her debut as senior international at the age of 16 in 2006 Women’s World Cup held in Madrid, a great player indeed coming from Shahabad in Haryana. 
Ritu feels bad the way Indian team performed at the Champions Challenge tournament in Dublin, Ireland where the team finished seventh among eight teams. She feels that they have to improve their penalty corner conversion if they have to improve their performance. Ritu has a point to prove after that disappointing performance in coming days.
