Reza Shariffi Biography

Reza Shariffi is a successful and National award winning costume designer who works in Bollywood. He has designed outfits for several leading stars of Bollywood for many hit films. He has won awards including National film awards, IIFA and Zee Cine Award for his designs in Devdas. He received a nomination at Zee Cine Award 2004 for designing Madhuri Dixit’s costumes for Antara Mali for the movie, Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon. He has designed costumes for several leading female artists of Bollywood for movies – Madhuri Dixit, Kangana Ranaut, Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Qureshi etc.

Reza Shariffi is of Iranian origin. He is associated with Bollywood since early 2000s, and 2002 Devdas was one of his early major works, which earned him numerous accolades. His work for designing Madhuri Dixit’s costumes for Antara Mali for the movie, Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon also got noticed, though the movie was a box office flop. The designer was asked to design costumes of Madhuri Dixit for different movies and songs, and those costumes were used by Antara Mali, who played a die-hard Madhuri fan and aspiring actress in the film.

He shared National film award for best costume designer with Neeta Lulla, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, for his work of 2002 movie, Devdas. With more than 70 films to his credit, he is currently one of the most sought fashion designers of the country. He shot to fame after designing costumes for Kangana Ranaut who donned a double role in National award winning film, Tanu Weds Manu Returns. This work is widely regarded as his career best one. Shariffi has also designed for dance reality shows like Nach Baliye, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa etc for different seasons.
