Ranjith Bajpe Biography

Ranjith Bajpe is a film director and screenwriter associated with Tulu cinema. Nirel (2014) - the first-ever international Tulu movie is his highly appreciated film which bagged four awards including the best movie award at Tulu Cinemotsava 2015. In 2015 he wrote the script, dialogues and directed the movie Dhand, which was released in Australia and UK, the first ever movie to have a theatric release in both these countries. In 2014, he wrote the script of one Tulu short film – Bolkir. He directs movies during his annual leave for the company.

 

He is a native of Bajpe, Mangalore of Karnataka into a family who loved and encouraged art. Since school days he was interested in arts and has participated in school plays. His father is a great lover of Yakshagana while his brother loves stage plays a lot. These two persons have influenced him a lot to pursue a career in art field. San Poojary, Ranjith Bajpe, Rajneesh Amin and Sachin Padil were the team of 4 friends who joined hands to complete the first international Tulu film, completely shot in Gulf region.

 

One of the expensive Tulu projects, Nirel made a lot of buzz when it was launched and the movie was done with a bunch of newcomers - Anoop Sagar, Varuna Shetty, Deepthi, Sachin Padil and Deepak Paladka. It was the first Tulu film produced overseas and completely shot in Gulf Region. The movie was based on the Kannada Script "Nadu Naduve" by Karthik Gowda. The movie received Tulu Cinemotsava Awards for Best Film,     Best Supporting Actress - Deepthi Salian, Best Cameraman - Mani Kookal and Best Story - Karthik Gowda. The movie received Special Award for First International Movie at RED FM Tulu Film Awards.
