Rani Chatterjee is a popular actress associated with Bhojpuri cinema. Sasura Bada Paisawala, Sita, Devra Bada Satawela and Rani no. 786 are her major Bhojpuri hits. Born and brought up in Mumbai, she made her film debut in Bhojpuri movies in the year 2003 and rose to fame through a series of roles she played onscreen. Now she has completed more than a Jupiter Year in Bhojpuri cinema and still remains at the top. In 2013, she bagged Best Actress award at Bhojpuri Awards 2013 for her performance in Nagin. She is also known as a TV anchor and dancer.

Rani Chatterjee was born on 3 November 1989 in Mumbai. She gave Bollywood a miss and tried her luck in Bhojpuri films which became successful. She never dreamt to become an actress and she got her first film role while studying in class 10. She made her film debut in 2003 through Bhojpuri film - Sasura Bada Paisawala starring Manoj Tiwari as the male lead. The director saw her photograph with an actor, which she got clicked while watching a shoot of movie. She was offered the lead role of Rani while Manoj Tiwari played the male protagonist Raja. The movie made with a moderate budget of 25 lakhs went on to become one of the highest grossers and collected almost 20 crore rupees at box office. The super success of her debut film established her as an actress and she stayed in Bhojpuri movies forever.

Bandhan tute na, Daamad Jee, Sita, Tohar Naikhe Kavno Jod Tu Bejod Badu Ho, Chaila Babu, Diljale, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati durga kaisan piyawa ke charitar ba naagin, Phool Banal Angar, Rani no. 786, Dil Aur Deewar, Maai Ke Karz, Dulaara jaanam, Dil Deewan Maane Na, Inspector Chandni etc are the movies in which she acted later. The actress says though Bhojpuri films are known for vulgarity, she chooses to wear traditional lehengas, sarees etc for her films. Ichchhadhari is her coming flick. Though there were reports that she is romancing her co-star Yash Mishra and that she has locked lips with him in the film, the actress denied it.
