Ramachandran Durairaj Biography

Ramachandran Durairaj is a well-known film actor associated with Tamil film industry. After a couple of less-known movies in Tamil, he marked his debut in an antagonist role through Suseenthiran's Naan Mahaan Alla (2010). The movie was a hit and his performance was lauded by critics. Jigarthanda, Vadacurry, Iraivi, Aviyal, Thirunaal, Vil Ambu, Theru Naaigal, Aaram, Balloon etc are among the theatric releases later. He is also known by the names - Rams, Ramachandran among his fans. He mostly plays negative roles onscreen.

Theni of Tamil Nadu is Rams’ native place. He moved to Chennai in 2000 for a job in Chennai. He did side jobs during his stay in Chennai and was also interested in photography. He acquainted with director S. R. Prabhakaran, who opened doors of entertainment world before him. He too got fascinated and decided to work in cine industry in the role of a choreographer. However he started his professional journey as an assistant director in television serials. At the same time, he kept trying to achieve film roles. He briefly worked as Vijay Milton's assistant cinematographer in 2009.

He was first seen onscreen through 2009 film, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu followed by Aval Peyar Thamizharasi. He shot to fame playing antagonist’s role in his third film, Naan Mahaan Alla released in the year 2010. He continued playing negative roles on screen, and appeared as henchman in the movies - Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda and H. Vinoth's Sathuranga Vettai. Since the release of Naan Mahaan Alla, he mostly gets negative roles to play. His friendship with director Gopi Nainar helped him to bag a role in Aramm (2017) co-staring Nayanthara. He played second lead in the film and actress Sunu Lakshmi was paired with him.
