Rakesh Kumar Tripathi Biography

Rakesh Kumar Tripathi is a multi-facet personality of Bengali cinema. He is known as a noted screenwriter, lyricist, theatre activist and director based in Kolkata. He wrote scripts for more than 10 television serials. He also wrote dialogues and lyrics for Hindi movie Gumshuda and Bhojpuri movie, Pistol-ego prem kahani. He has also penned songs for Banobhumi. He has also been associated with ad films and jingles and translated 10 Rabindranath Tagore songs to Hindi.

 

He was born on 14 November 1970 in Dumdum Cantonment, Kolkata. His association with the field of art began with theater as a theatre activist.  He was a theater activist with a group theatre "Rangakarmee" and worked full-time for the troupe as a full time repertory member. He received a scholarship from Ministry of Culture for his performance as a repertory member. He worked under the guidance of noted theatre personality, Usha Ganguly. He wrote plays, acted in them and also worked as a back stage worker and spent 8 years under her troupe. In 2000 he left the group and reached Mumbai. He joined the advertising group 'Nimbus Television' as a writer. Two years later he returned to his hometown. Since then he has been associated with movies and television in the role of a writer, director and lyricist.  

 

Till now he has penned lyrics for more than 160 film songs and scripted 10 television serials as well. His contributions are spread to advertising world as well, in the form of jingles and ad films. He wrote a Hindi song for Bengali movie, 'Banobhumi', the only sound track of the film.
