Rajya Lakshmi Biography

Rajya Lakshmi is a South Indian film actress, who is currently active in Tamil television serials right now. She is best known for the supporting role she played in Telugu classic – Sankarabharanam, the movie which included the star cast of J. V. Somayajulu, Manju Bhargavi and Chandra Mohan. She played the noted role of Sankara Sastry's (character portrayed by J. V. Somayajulu) daughter Sarada in the movie. She was casted opposite Chandra Mohan in the movie, aged 15. She has played lead roles in many movies in 1980s and has worked in all south Indian languages apart from Bollywood. She got associated with film field since 1979.

 

Rajyalakshmi was born on December 18, 1964 in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh. She was associated with amateur plays aside her mother during her younger age. She made her film debut at the age of 15 for the classic - Sankarabharanam, where she played parallel lead opposite Chandra Mohan. The role still remains one of her best roles she played onscreen. She got married in 1990 to Ramesh Krishnan and has two sons. Currently she is doing character roles for movies, apart from her television work. Deivamagal on SUN Network is her television work.

 

She got associated with Malayalam movies since 1980s and has played and supporting roles for movies like – Trishna, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Kaalal Pada, Aarambham, Ahimsa, Vannu Kandu Keezhadakki, Ilanjipookkal etc. She frequently worked with actor Mammootty in the 1980s and played his female lead in ‘Trishna’, which still remains one of her memorable film roles. She has worked with actor Dileep in many of his recent movies like - Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath (2013) and Ivan Maryadaraman (2015), and also 2006 movie – Chess.
