Rajat Arora Biography

Rajat Arora is a highly acclaimed and successful screenwriter of Bollywood known for the association with the famous director - Milan Luthria. He wrote the scripts of Luthria’s movies - The Dirty Picture (2011), Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010) and Taxi Number 9211 (2006), for which he has been awarded with multiple awards and nominations. He wrote the dialogues of Once upon a time in Mumbai Dubara (2013) as well, apart from its screenplay though it couldn’t replicate the magic created by its predecessor. Apart from film scripts, he also pens dialogues and lyrics for movies. Bluffmaster – released in 2005 is his debut work and his latest works include Mein tera hero and Kick. Television thrillers - CID and Aahat are his television works. He was associated with CID for long 6 years.

 

Rajat, born in 1976, completed graduation from Delhi University. To pursue his dreams in film industry, he joined Asian Academy of Film & Television, Noida. In 2001 he moved to Mumbai to become a lyricist. But he started his career as a co-scriptwriter of the popular detective series on Sony television network – CID in 2002. He also co-wrote the script of late night horror show, Aahat.  Bluffmaster – released in 2005 marked his successful debut in Bollywood. This comic thriller starring abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka chopra in lead roles received good response from critics and was a moderate hit at box office too.

 

His association with Milan Luthria began with Taxi No. 9211 in 2006 and they together gave many thrillers to Bollywood later. Dirty Picture and Once upon a time in Mumbai are his biggest hits up to date. Script and dialogues of both these movies earned him numerous awards as well. He started his career as a lyricist with the movie - The Dirty Picture.
