Rajashree (Tamil Actress) Biography

Rajashree is a Tamil film and television actress, who shot to fame with her debut film - Bharathiraja's 1994 film Karuththamma, where she played the female lead. The movie was highly praised by critics for its socially relevant subject of ‘killing girl children after birth’ and A. R. Rahman’s music was also well appreciated. Rajashree was highly praised for her flawless acting skills, and she played the powerful village girl with perfect ease. After that though she appeared in many movies in Tamil, none could match with her performance of her debut film. She later gained popularity through Tamil television serials and has done lead roles in more than 30 soaps, establishing herself as a lead TV artist. “Aalayam” was her first major break to television.

Her birth name is Madhavi. She made her film debut with 1994 film Karuththamma. Later she played lead roles in Tamil films - Neela Kuyil, Murai Mappillai, Aavathum Pennale Azhivathum Pennale etc. But none of the roles were as powerful as her debut one and later she moved to supporting roles. She was seen in character roles in Amman Kovil Vaasalile, Sethu, Nandha, Run, Manasellam, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu etc. She also acted in Telugu films at the same period. In 2009 she married Ansari Raja after courtship. But the couple split just one month after marriage. She married her relative Bujankar Rao, a computer engineer one year later.

Rajshree is quite successful as a television actress. 'Aalayam', 'Agal Vilakku', 'Mandhira Vasal' and 'Sivamayam’ are her most successful TV shows. Ganga Yamuna Saraswati, Vamsam, Idhayam and Agal Vilakkugal are her recent shows. Chandi Veeran, Vathikuchi, Porkodi 10am Vaguppu, Ayyanar etc are her recent films. She acted in Malayalam film – Mangalya Pallakku in 1998.
