Rajan Madhav Biography

Rajan Madhav is a film director & screenwriter, who predominantly works in Tamil cinema. He is the son of legendary music composer of Malayalam cinema, Raveendran. His brother Sajan Madhav is a music composer in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films. It was his father who encouraged Rajan to join film direction stream instead of music composition. In 2011 he directed his first film, Muran, followed by Ula and Kattam in 2017. But both these films are yet to get a theatric release. In 2011, he was nominated at SIIMA Awards for Best Debutant Director.

His full name is Rajan Babu Raveendran. He was born on 31 May 1975 in Chennai. He was born to renowned music composer of Malayalam cinema, Raveendran and his wife, Shobhana. He belongs to a family with strong music background. He had one twin brother. His brothers are Sajan Madhav and Naveen Madhav. Sajan is a music director and Naveen Madhav, a playback singer. He is married to Sandhya. When both his brothers chose to follow their father’s footsteps, Rajan, after completing graduation persuaded film direction. His decision was well supported by his father. But he didn’t want to use his father’s name in the industry, and decided to fight by himself.

He started off working as an assistant under Shaji Kailas. He also worked in ad film world for a short while. He then worked with critically acclaimed director Mysskin for the movie, Anjathey as co-director. He marked his directorial debut with Muran in 2011, which received rave reviews from critics. This drama thriller film starred Cheran, Prasanna, Haripriya and Nikita Thukral in pivot roles. This engaging thriller was a box office hit too. He directed two more films, Ula and Kattam. But the release of both these movies got delayed.
