Rajakumaran Biography

Rajakumaran is a film director associated with Tamil films. He has also done a few movies as an actor, including comic roles. Famous south Indian actress Devayani is his wedded wife. They got married in 2001. As a film director he is best known for the movies - Nee Varuvai Ena and Vinnukkum Mannukkum. In between 1999 and 2013 he directed only five movies and quite interestingly, his wife played female lead in all these movies. He has also acted in supporting roles and best known as a comedy actor.

Rajakumaran worked as an assistant film director in Tamil movies in 1990s. He worked under director Vikraman, before he started his full-fledged career as a film director. He made his debut with Nee Varuvai Ena, a romantic hit film. The movie starred Devayani, Parthiban and Ajith Kumar in lead roles. He won Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Storywriter for his debut film. He shelved a film titled Aanavam, though he worked on the project for a while. His second project was titled as Vinnukkum Mannukkum, with an ensemble cast featuring Vikram, Devayani, Sarathkumar and Kushboo. Throughout the film shooting Vikram had arguments with the director, and the project got delayed for other reasons too. Finally when it got released it met with box office failure.

His third release Kadhaludan (2003) with Murali in the lead role too couldn’t satisfy film critics and audience and the movie flopped too. Shivaram and Thirumathi Tamil also followed the same suit. As an actor he started off with some uncredited roles in 1990s along with his role as assistant director in this industry. Kadugu, Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham, Thirumathi Thamizh etc are his roles as an actor.
