Rahul Riji Nair is an award winning film director belonging to Malayalam film industry. He is best known for directing the film, Ottamuri Velicham which won 4 awards. It was his debut film as a director. The movie received Best Feature Film at Kerala State Film Awards 2017 and two international awards apart from several nominations. Ottamuri Velicham received Second Best Feature Film award at Chicago South Asian Film Festival 2018 and German Star of India award for Best Feature Film at 15th Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2018. However his second film as a director, Dakini in 2018 disappointed critics and audience alike. He has also directed a few short films and one music video.

Rahul Riji Nair hails from Kollam, Kerala. He was born in the year 1988 to Dr Riji Nair and Rajasree Nair. His wife’s name is Nithya Vijay. After completing his graduation in software engineering in 2009, he worked in IT sector for a while and later was into marking field before he joined film industry. In 2017 he scripted and directed his debut film, Ottamuri Velicham which received unanimous critical acclaim, and was showcased at many international film awards winning honours. The film also bagged the prestigious best film award at Kerala state awards.

Just before he ventured into film field, he also started his own production company, First Print Studios in 2012, and his first movie was later released under this banner. Apart from movies, he also directed a few short films and documentaries, and is fully associated with this field. The documentary film, The Human Boundaries in 2012 was his first work as a director. His most recent release, Dakini in 2018 starred veteran actors like Sarasa Balussery, Sethulakshmi and Savithri Sridhar playing pivot roles, and they appeared in an entirely different avatar breaking stereotypes.
