Raghunath Paleri Biography

Raghunath Paleri is an accomplished novelist, and screenwriter from Kerala. He wrote his first screenplay for the movie Naseema at the age of 24. His first noted screenplay is “My Dear Kuttichathan”, the first Indian 3D movie. He co-scripted the movie with T.K. Rajeev Kumar. The movie released in 1984 was a huge success and later dubbed to several Indian languages without any change. Its Hindi version was Chota Chetan. The movie was later re-released twice in 1997 and 2011 in digital versions with added characters and was well received both these times. He has also directed two movies – Mohanlal starrer Onnu Muthal Poojaym Vare (1986) and Vismayam (1998). He received Kerala State Award for the best debut Director for Onnu Muthal Poojaym Vare. As a screenwriter, Piravi, Mele parambil aanveedu and Kadinjool Kalyanam are regarded as classics.

He is always known for powerful scripts and in most cases he handles both screenplays and dialogues. A few noted movies in which he acted as a dialogue writer and screenwriter are Mele parambil aanveedu, Mangalam Veettil Manaseswari Gupta, Madhuchandralekha, Piravi, Ezhara Ponnana , Swapnam Kondu Thulabharam and Kadinjool Kalyanam.  He is credited as a writer of the movies - Ennodishtam Koodamo , Neram Pularumbol, Onathumbikku Oru Oonjal, Thamburu, Kadinjool Kalyanam, Swaham, Pingami, Sindoora Rekha, Vadhu doctor aanu, Devadoothan, Mazhavil Kavadi, Ennum nanmakal, Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu and Onnu Muthal Poojaym Vare. He has also written the sript of Priyadarshan’s Hindi movie, Dus thula, the remake of his own story, Ponmuttayidunna tharavu.

Though known as a powerful screenwriter, he has also published a few books. Ananda Vedam,    Vismayam Pole, Etho Rathriyude Pakal, Arundhathiyude Nagarathil, Akasathekkoru Jalakam,    Avasyamillatha Achanammamar, Orkkunnuvo En Krishnaye, Raghunath Paleriyude Kathakal,   Sooryagayathri, Avar Moovarum Oru Mazhavillum and Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare.
