Purbi Joshi Biography

Purbi Joshi is a successful television actress, host and dubbing artist. She is the daughter of well known television and stage artist of Gujarati, Sarita Joshi. Famous theatre cum television actress, Ketki Dave is her elder sister. In 1995, Purbi got her first break in Faasle – Doordarshan TV serial.

Purbi was born in 19 August 1984 in Mumbai as the daughter of Praveen Joshi and Sarita Joshi. Her education was also done in the same city. Though brought up in Mumbai, the family followed Gujarati traditions. Her family is filled with a set of popular television actresses known for comic roles most. As a television actress, Purbi is known for her role as Nikita & Neha in Dishayen. She has successfully hosted many television shows of which reality shows related to comedy earned her good name as an entertainer of the industry. She has hosted Comedy Circus Kaante Ki Takkar, Comedy Circus - Chinchpokli To China and Comedy Circus - Maha Sangram in Sony Entertainment Television. She has also appeared as a contestant in Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobe. In 2008, she won Best Female Contestant for Mr. & Ms. TV.

Purbi has also appeared in a few Bollywood movies though her efforts are not fruitful yet. She played supporting role of Himesh Reshammiya’s girl friend Shikha’s role in 2011 released movie – Damadamm! The movie was able to accumulate critics’ good opinions as well as moderate success at box office. She also appeared in 2008 movie, Dasvidaniya where she got opportunity to work with her mother, who played the mother of leading character of the movie, Vinay Pathak. This movie too, was a box-office hit and received good words from critics. According to her, she inherited the comedy tricks and talents from her mother and elder sister, established actresses of small screen.
