Priya Bhavani Shankar Biography

Priya Bhavani Shankar is a star anchor and actress of Tamil television. She is best known as the newsreader of Puthiya Thalaimurai TV and she continued the post for 4 years since 2011, which made her immensely popular. Currently she plays the title role Priya in Tamil soap - Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai since Nov 2014 - adaptation of Hindi serial Ye Hai Mohabbatein that airs in Star Plus. She is also the celebrity host of Jodi Number One show on Vijay TV and most recently hosted the prestigious Filmfare awards – South.

Also known as Sathya Priya, this young actress is a native of Mayiladuthurai and was born in Pondicherry to Bhavani Shankar and Thangam. She has one elder brother who is into the media field. After completing Engineering in IT, she joined the prestigious Infosys as an IT professional. But she quit the job because of her passion to mass media. Following her brother’s footsteps she joined as news reader of Puthiya Thalaimurai TV in 2011, which made her immensely popular TV personality. Currently she plays the female protagonist in Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai on STAR Vijay and is planning to do Masters in Business Application soon.

She was hosting Jodi Number One, where she replaced the popular host Divyadarshini for the new season. Though she is frequently getting offers for doing TV roles, she is currently focused on her career as an anchor and has not accepted any other TV soaps. And she believes that this would be her last stint as far as soaps are concerned, though she has a huge fan following crowd after the success of her debut venture.
