Divyadarshini Biography

Dhivyadharshini, also referred to as Divyadharshini is a star personality and anchor associated with Tamil television. She has done a few Tamil films as well. Yet she earned popularity as a star host through a series of successful TV shows, which she hosted in the past one decade or so. Since 2006, she is fully associated with Star Vijay, and she shot to fame hosting 6 seasons of Jodi Number One from 1 to 7, except season 4. Koffee with DD is yet another popular show she hosts on Star Vijay. She hosts the show since 2013. Anbudan DD and Achcham Thavir are her other popular shows in the recent past. She is affectionately called DD by her fans and wellwishers.

 

Dhivyadharshini was born on 17 February 1985 in Chennai. Her father is a Tamilian while her mother is a Keralite. She has three siblings. Her younger sisters Priyadarshini and Devadharshini are also television hosts, and her younger brother is a pilot. She is married to her friend, Srikanth Ravihandhran. She made her screen debut as a child artist through 1999 Malayalam film, Shubha Yatra. She made her debut as a child television anchor in 1999 when she was only 14. Vijay TV's Ungal Theerpu was her first TV show. But she earned initial success as a child artist through the television series, Rekkai Kattiya Manasu on Raj TV.

She made her film debut with a minor role in 2004 comedy film, Nala Damayanthi as lead actor Madhavan’s younger sister. Though she was seen in a few more films like Whistle, Julie Ganapathi etc, nothing could propel her film journey. Slowly she moved to television in the mid-2000s and the rest is history.

 

She was associated with SUN TV during her early years on small screen as an actress before she took up anchoring. Selvi and Arase are her noted TV roles, and she also had a brief stint as a dubbing artist in Tamil film industry. She moved to Vijay TV in 2006, which proved to be the real turning point of her career. She successfully hosted the first season of Jodi Number One, and continuously hosted the show for almost 8 years.
