Prem Kumar Biography

Prem Kumar, also known as Prem or Nenapirali Prem is a very popular Kannada film actor. He is popularly known as Lovely Star also. He made his acting debut in 2004 through the film Praana. His second movie Nenapirali, released in 2005 was his big break to acting career which presented him Filmfare award for best actor, Kannada. Though the first movie with a crew of new actors was a flop at box office, his lover boy image in the next movie, Praana was an instant hit and he became a star overnight. In 2013, a Tamil - Kannada bilingual project opposite Shriya Saran was released titled, Chandra directed by Roopa Iyer. Kannada version had a good opening while the Tamil version flopped. Now a series of lagged and postponed projects are in wait for a release.

Prem was born in 18 April 1976 in Karnataka. In 2004 he debuted opposite another debutant, Preeti in the movie, Praana. Its director, Prakash and music composer too were debutants. The movie bombed at box office. But Prem bounced back with his next release, which was a commercial successful movie, Nenapirali. Prem picked up a Best Actor Filmfare Award for his performance in the film. In the year 2006 too, he had a single major release. The movie Jothe Jotheyali with the actress Ramya was a love story and a commercial hit too. After this release, Prem declared that he won’t act in any remakes in future. But his real stories - Pallakki, Savi Savi Nenapu and Gunavanta, flopped one after the other and many projects got lagged behind.

In 2008, his much awaited project Honganasu too was a box office failure and received negative responses from critics. After that he began to accept remakes as well. He starred in I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona, which made news for its controversial kissing scene. But the film was appreciated with its re-release. R. Chandru's Charminar is his recent successful movie.
