Preethi Srinivasan Biography 
Preethi Srinivasan is a former cricketer from Tamil Nadu who played domestic cricket in the 1990s. At the age of 8, she was the youngest girl to play in the State cricket team. She captained the Tamil Nadu women’s under-19 team in a national tournament in 1997, and registered its only victory ever. But the following year, she suffered a spinal cord injury in a beach accident in Puducherry that left her quadriplegic. Her life was totally changed. She has been a state-level swimmer too, and has won a state gold in 50 m breaststroke and silver in other events.
She co-founded Soulfree, a foundation to cope with disabilities related to spinal cord injuries, and to spread awareness among youth. Now she goes to schools and colleges to talk to students and teachers on the dangers of spinal cord injuries, and how suitable precautions can help you out. She is active in social life and earned many honours too.
Preethi Srinivasan was born in 1979 in Tamil Nadu. Preethi’s father, an electrical engineer, died a few years ago. She now lives with her mother in Tiruvannamalai. She is unmarried. During her academic years she has been a very brilliant student. Preethi graduated from Upper Merion Area High School, Pennsylvania in 1997. For her excellence in studies, she was awarded with academic honours then. While doing her intermediate studies, she was among United States of America’s top 2 percent merit students for Class 12.
After the accident, she completed a Bachelor correspondence course in Medical Sociology from the University of Madras. She has been battling for a few years with University of Madras which refused her admission to its M. Sc. Counseling Psychology course through distance education. She faced rejection twice in recent years. Her disability was cited to be the reason, as she can’t attend mandatory 15 classes before the course begins.
