Pradeep Kottayam is a noted comedian and actor associated with Malayalam cinema and television. He got his first break to television through “Swararagam”, where he played the character role of Venkichu which was highly appreciated. Since then he is regular with television serials and comedy shows. Autograph, Parasparam and Agni Putri are some of his major roles for television. He won Asianet Television Award, 2014 for best character artist for playing the character role of Krishnan in “Parasparam”. He is indeed popular for his distinct dialogue delivery, and a particular dialogue capitulated him to fame. He regularly delivers that ‘dialogue’ for comedy shows and stage programs.

He has also played the role of Chavara Achan for an album, Oru Chavara Kalam. Pradeep is regular in Malayalam movies as well. He received appreciation for his role in ‘Thattathin Marayathu’. Adi Kappiyare Kootta Mani is his recent flick. Style, Thilothama and Saaradhi are other recent releases. He has also acted in Tamil super hits such as Raja Rani (2013), Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), Nanbeda etc. He played Trisha’s uncle in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Amar Akbar Antony, Aadu Oru Bheekara Jeeviyanu, Uttopiyayile Rajavu, Oru Vadakkan Selfie, Jama Pyari, Kunjiramayanam and Anchu Sudarikal are some of his major Malayalam films.

Pradeep hails from Kottayam, Kerala. He is married to Maya and the couple has two children. Pradeep started his acting career in 1990 with the film ‘Ee Nadu Enale Vare’. The movie was directed by I. V. Sasi. After that he played bit roles in numerous movies for many years. His big break happened in the year 2009 through the Tamil film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. The role was offered by Gautham Memon which proved to be a major turning point of his career. He played ‘George Uncle’ for its Telugu and Hindi versions as well. His dialogue for the movie, “Fish Und….Chicken Und….Mutton Und….Kazhicholu Kazhicholu” changed his life forever.
