Pijush Bandyopadhyay Biography

Pijush Bandyopadhyay is a veteran Bangladesh actor, who has worked in Indian Bengali movies also. He is a very talented stage, television and film actor, who was most recently seen in Buno Haansh (2014) Bengali film. The film also marked his film debut in Indian film industry. Mostly associated with theatre, he is a seasonal actor in films, and has done a few noted roles in Bangladeshi cinema since year 2000. Ekattorer Jishu in 1993 was his first movie. He has earlier served as the MD of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). Bandyopadhyay is married to actress Joyosree Kor Joya. He participated in Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.

 

Pijush Bandyopadhyay’s acting career began with theatre during his younger days. At first he was associated with the theatre troupe "Bahubachan", followed by "Natyachakrais". In 973 he co-founded "Dhaka Theatre", aside Nasiruddin Yousuff and Selim Al Deen – two leading stage artists and directors of Bangladeshi theater. As a playwright and director, his shows such as "Meenkanya", "Ekatturer Khudiram" and "Ekatturer Galpo" remained immensely successful.

 

In 2007, he published a recitation album - "Tui Razakar". A film and TV performer who have acquired vast experience in theatre, and his experience began since his school days. In 1973 he also joined Liberation War of Bangladesh, which resulted in the formation of new country. He joined theatrical group Bahubachan after independence, and owns more than 4 decade of experience in this field. He is a television actor since 1973. But joined films only in the 1990s, with less number of works till now. He has also directed a few TV plays, and is an enlisted Radio artiste.
