Peketi Sivaram Biography

Peketi Sivaram is an Indian film actor and a director who concentrates in South Indian film industry. His influence in the film industry spread more than three decades.

 

Peketi Sivaram was born on 8th October 1918 in Pekeru village in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. His original name was Peketi Sivarama Subbarao. He was much interested in acting that he left for Chennai at his age of 20 and joined Ghantasala Balaramaiah as a production assistant.

 

When he was at Chennai, he got to know of NT Ramarao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao and became their good friend. He started to act in films and had acted more than 80 films in his life. He played the role of Bhagawan in the film Devadasu that made him very popular. He had directed seven films in Kannada language.

 

He married Prabhavati and has four sons namely Krishna Mohan, Peketi Ranga Rao, Venku and Gopal Peketi and four daughters namely Laxmi, Shanti, Rani Kumar Tindal and Poornima. His son-in-law Thiyagarajan in an actor and director and his grandson Prasanth is an actor in Tamil film industry.

 

Some of the films that he has acted include Kanna Talli, Kanyasulkam, Anarkali, Edi Nijam, Suvarna Sundari, Chiranjeevulu, Illarikam, Jayabheri, Gulebakavali Katha, Usha Parinayam, Babruvahana, Murali Krishna, Velugu Needalu, Bala Bandhana, Dari Tappida Maga, Sutrada Bombe, Maathu Thappadha Maga, etc.

 

He was suffering from asthma during his last days and was admitted in hospital in Chennai. He died on 30th December 2006.
