Parvez Rasool Biography

Parvez Rasool is a young cricketer from Kashmir who plays for India’s national team. He plays as an all-rounder for his team. He is a right-hand batsman and off-break bowler. He serves as the team captain of domestic Jammu & Kashmir team. Rasool was the first cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to have played in the IPL, who was brought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2014 IPL auction for whooping 95 lakh Indian rupees. He joined Indian National team in the year 2013 and played his first international match in 2014 against Bangladesh. He marked his T20I debut on 26 January 2017 v England. Rasool is yet to play test matches in his international cricket career.

 

Parvez Rasool hails from Bijbehara, Jammu and Kashmir. He was born in the year 1989. He played cricket under the guidance of former Indian first-class cricketer from Kashmir, Abdul Qayoom. Parvez’s father and brother too are interested in the game, and used to play frequently. He played Ranji matches in 2012-2013 season and scored 594 runs from 7 matches at an average of 54 including two centuries. He also took 33 wickets at an average of 18 with three five-wicket hauls. His impressive performance as an all-rounder earned him berth in India team-A the same year, and he became the first cricketer from Kashmir to reach this feat. In 2013, he also became the first cricketer from Kashmir to be selected for an IPL team.

 

He was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the 2014 IPL auction, and got opportunity to play three matches. During this time, he shined in domestic cricket and Ranji matches, and won Lala Amarnath award for best all-rounder in domestic circuit after 2013-2014 season. He is only the second player from Kashmir to be selected for National team. Though he couldn’t get opportunity to play, he marked his ODI debut the following year. Marked his debut opposite Bangladesh, he never got opportunity to play ODI matches later, but got opportunity to play 37 T20 matches scoring 478 runs and 27 wickets.
