P. V. Shajikumar Biography

P. V. Shajikumar is an acclaimed script writer of Malayalam cinema, best known for Take Off (2017) which he co-scripted with its debutant director Mahesh Narayanan. He also co-scripted Kanyaka Talkies and Puthan Panam. He is also one of the young authors of the country, with a promising career ahead. He is a recipient of Kendra Sahitya Akademi's Yuva Award for his work, Vellarippaadam in 2013 and Kerala Sahitya Akademi's Geeta Hiranyan Award for Janam in 2009. C. V. Raman Smrithi Award, SBT Saahithya Award, Kunjunni Mash Award, Madhavikutty Award, Vishwamalayala Mahotsavam Award, Malayala Manorama Sri Award etc are some other literal awards received by him. He is a software engineer by profession.

P. V. Shajikumar hails from Kalichampothi, Kasargod, Kerala. He was born in year 1983. Kallenkil Kunhikannan and Thankamani are his parents. His wife’s name is Maneesha Narayan. He graduated in mathematics and Statistics (Double Main) from Nehru Arts And Science College Kanhangad and MCA at LBS Engineering College, Kasaragod, after which he took software as his profession.  He got into serious writing only during his college days. He published his first short story collection ‘Janam’ at the age of 23.

As a screenwriter he marked his debut with 2013 Malayalam movie, Kanyaka Talkies, and earned acclaim after co-scripting Take Off. His debut movie was screened at numerous film festivals and own many prizes. He also received Best Screenplay awards at 14th Annual New York Indian Film Festival. Vellaripadam and Kidapparasamaram are his noted works as a writer. Other published works are Itha Innumuthal Itha Innalevare – Memoirs, Ullal – Short story collection and Kalichampothiyilekku Oru Half Ticket – A collection of articles.
