Nupur Mehta Biography

Nupur Mehta is an Indian model and actress who gained public attention through a bit of controversies related to allegations of match fixing of the ICC World Cup 2011 India – Pak semi-final and Geetika Sharma suicide case in 2009. She was accused among the suspects of Geetika Sharma suicide case and it gained media attention as Gopal Goyal Kanda, a politician too was attached to it. As a Bollywood actress, she got attention through Sunny Deol starrer Jo Bole So Nihaal, released in 2005. She has appeared in only a single movie. During the match fixing allegations of 2011 World cup, her statement that she was dating Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan, add fuel to wire and was a hot topic of discussion in national news channels for a short period. She was featured on the cover of one of India’s first Mills & Boons versions written by Astha Atray. Currently she works as a freelancer with Fulcrum Events, an event management company.

Mehta was born in the year 1980 in Delhi. Both her parents are surgeons. She schooled from Delhi Public School, RK Puram and completed her graduation in English. She won Miss Delhi title at the age of 17 and very soon rose to stardom. She shifted to Milan, Italy after winning this title and spent 6 years in Europe as a ramp model. Once she returned to India she worked in a hotel and casino in Goa before her Bollywood debut. That hotel was owned by Gopal Goyal Kanda, a politician. Geetika Sharma was an employee there who had earlier filed a FIR against Nupur for harassment. So after Geetika’s murder Nupur became one among the prime suspects.

Soon after the World Cup 2011, some unpleasant news came out. It was reported that a Hindi actress was used to lure cricketers and it’s Nupur. It invited hot discussions nation-wide through Nupur claimed that all those allegations were claimless.
