Radhika Nair (model) Biography

Radhika Nair is an Indian fashion model from Kerala. Radhika was the first Indian model & the first to walk for Demna Gvasalia Balenciaga SS17 show in Paris. As a ramp model she has walked for many leading fashion designers of the country and abroad. Anna Sui, Balenciaga, Trussadi, Vetements, Valentin Yudashkin, Zimmerma, Ronald van der Kemp, Loewe, Lacoste, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, MSGM, Mulberry, Paul Smith, Prabal Gurung, Pringle of Scotland etc among those leading international designers.

She has been featured in several international magazines such as Vogue (Russia, Ukraine and Germany), W Magazine, Harpers Bazaar (US, UK and India), Dazed, Numero China, CR Fashion Book etc. Balenciaga’s first ever Indian model, she is currently one of the top models of the country. She achieved this feat at the age of 25. As a model she has signed for the agencies - Ford Models (New York, Paris, Los Angeles), Special Management (Milan) and Next Model Management (London).

She was born in Kerala on 4 June 1992 and was raised in Jharkhand. She is an avid amateur photographer inspired by Pieter Hugo, Martin Parr etc and she has also published her works in magazine. She is a trained singer, who learnt Indian music. Her friends in Mumbai set her up with some small-time model agents who helped place newcomers in little adverts. She was still in college and not much serious about modelling. Yet her career took off.

She was studying commerce in Bangalore and happy doing small fashion events. She got her first big modelling assignment in 2012 and it was for Bunglow 8. She bagged a few editorial shoots for magazines like Grazia. She sent her portfolio to grab such opportunities. Balenciaga’s assignment proved to be the biggest turning point of her career.
