Diya Mirza Biography 
Dia Mirza is an Indian actress and model. Her nickname is Dee. She is runner up at the Femina Miss India in 2000 and was sent to participate in the Asia Pacific. She won the Asia Pacific 2000 on 3rd December 2000 in Manila in Philippines. She is the first Indian participant to win this title in a period of 29 years. She with her friends Sahil Sangha and Zayed Khan started her own production company, Born Free Entertainment. The first film under this banner was Love Breakups Zindagi.
She was born on 9th December 1981 in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. Her parents are Frank Handrich who was a German graphic designer and mother was Deepa, an interior designer. Her parents were separated when she was six years old and her father died when she was nine. Her mother remarried Ahmed Mirza and she adopted the surname of her stepfather Mirza and then adopted the last name of her birthfather also and became Dia Mirza Handrich.
She studied at Khairatabad Vidhyaranya High School for Boys and Girls. This is based on the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurthi. She studied at Nasr School and at Stanley Junior College and got her degree in Bachelor of Arts from Andhra Pradesh Open University at Hyderabad. She started to work when she was still at her college. She worked as the marketing executive in Dr. Neeraj’s Multimedia studio.
She worked in the advertising campaigns that include Walls, Lipton, Emami, etc. She could speak many languages, English, Hindi, Bengali and Telugu. She made her film debut with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein with R. Madhavan. She got Best Female Debut award for this film at the Zee Cine Awards. She appeared in the film Parineeta in 2005 and in the music video Kajara Mohabbat Wala.
She expressed her support for Narmada Bacho Andolan movement. she is involved with Cancer Patients Aid Association, Spastics Society of India, PETA, CRY, NDTV Greenathon and many other social organizations. She adopted two cheetah cubs at the Prince of Wales zoological park in Lucknow.
