Nitesh Tiwari Biography

Nitesh Tiwari is a successful film director associated with Bollywood, known for directing Children’s movies. He co-directed the national award winning film – Chillar Party (2011). He made his debut as an independent director through the film - Bhoothnath Returns (2014) starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Currently Tiwari is in spotlight for directing one of the most awaited releases of 2016 – Dangaal with Aamir Khan playing the protagonist’s role. The movie is in news since it was announced, since Aamir Khan portrays the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a wrestler in the film. The movie is a biopic and one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

He was born in Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh. He made his Bollywood debut in the year 2011 with the experimental film for kids - Chillar Party. A new subject and plot, the movie received warm response from critics. But it received cold response at box office. Nitesh scripted the film and co-directed Chillar Party aside Vikas Bahl, who later became an established director of Bollywood after ‘Queen’ in 2014. As an independent director, he made the sequel of Bhootnath titled Bhoothnath Returns in 2014. A comic film with food of thought, the movie released during summer vacation was a hit at box office. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Parth Bhalerao in lead roles.

It’s quite interesting that both his films featured kids in central roles, though it is mere co-incidence. The director has chosen quite contradictory subject as the theme of his third film. Dangal is a biopic based on the life of a wrestler. He also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues of the film. He also wrote dialogues and screenplay for the film ‘Kill Dil’ (2014). Prior to his film debut he has shot many TV ads.
