Navdeep Singh Biography

Navdeep Singh is a talented director associated with Bollywood who has given highly acclaimed movies like - Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) and the most recent NH10 (2015), which starred Anushka Sharma in the pivot role. The movie was highly praised by critics and was a box office hit. But some critics consider it to be the most violent Bollywood film in the 2010s. Rock The Shaadi is his unreleased movie. His debut flick Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) though was not a commercial hit, it was praised by critics. But after this movie, it took a long gap of 8 years for his next film release. After two thrillers, he is planning to make a comedy film - titled ‘Kaneda’.

He was born in Delhi in 1968 to an Army Officer. He graduated from Delhi and started an animation studio soon after studies. It was first one of this kind in India and he started the studio with a friend. He moved to US, where he lived for 8 long years before he returned back in 1999. He also did film-making at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena just before his return to India. He directed commercials and music videos and moved to Mumbai in 2001. Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) – a noir film was his debut film as a director and it was a murder mystery. The movie starred Abhay Deol, Raima Sen, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Gul Panag in lead roles.

Rock the Shaadi starring Abhay Deol and Genelia D'Souza was his next project. However the movie got shelved. NH10 (2015) is his second released film whose story is loosely adapted on 2007 Manoj-Babli honour killing case. The movie starring Anushka Sharma and Neil Bhoopalam was a sleeper hit. He had a stint of directing commercials in US for 4 years, before coming to India.
