Naresh Kanodia Biography

Naresh Kanodia is a Gujarati film actor. He is also a musician. He started his acting career in 1970 with the film, "Veline Avya Phool", and has acted in a total of 63 Gujarati films. He had brief stint in politics as well, and has served as an MLA of Gujarat representing Karjan constituency from 2002 to 2007, after his retirement from active film career. His brother Mahesh Kanodia is also a popular Gujarati musician and singer, and also a politician who has served as a Member of Parliament from Patan. Kanku Ni Kimat, Laju Lakhan, Man Saibani Medie, Jog Sanjog, Dhola Maru, Meru Malan, Maa Baap Ne Bhulsho Nahi, Rajveer, Unchi Medina Uncha Mol, Raj Rajvan etc are among the most popular film roles of Naresh in Gujarati cinema.

He hails from Kanoda, Gujarat, born in the year 1946. He belonged to a poor family, and his father worked in a mill. As a stage singer and dancer, along with his elder brother Mahesh, he too entered the world of art and entertainment at a young age. Later they earned fame in Gujarati films too. They performed together, and as a successful musical pair in the Gujarati film industry, the duo was also known as Mahesh-Naresh. Interestingly, they had brief stint in politics, and succeeded also. As stage performers, they have performed across Gujarat and also in many foreign countries. Their shows remained successful.

Kanodia started his career with the film Veli Ne Avya Phool in 1970. He also played a brief role in Jigar and Ami, released the same year, and there was no turning back after that. He is married to Ratan Kanodia, and the couple has two sons. Their son Hitu Kanodia is a Gujarati film actor.
