Nadirshah Biography

Nadirshah is a cine artist, TV anchor and mimicry artist associated with Malayalam films and theater for about 25 years. In 2015 he made his directorial debut with Malayalam blockbuster – Amar Akbar Anthony starring Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Indrajith in lead roles. He made his first film after completing almost 25 years in the industry, which earned him fame and recognition. He has also worked as a music composer, lyricist and singer for the same movie. He is best known as a mimicry and stage artist who has performed across the globe more than two decades. In fact he is one among those mimicry artists of early 1990s who later achieved success through Mollywood.

Nadirshah has never played a hero in any hit movie, but he is quite popular among Keralities. This multifaceted personality is known as an actor, mimicry artist, parody writer, comedian, performer, lyricist, composer, TV host and the most recent – a film director. After the super success of Amar Akbar Antony, which still runs in fully-packed houses three months after its release, many film buffs complain that it’s his late entry to films.

He was born and brought up in Kochi. He is married to Shahina. He started his career as a mimicry artist at the age of 16 soon after the death of his father to take family’s responsibility and took up the role of a director of the show at the age of 20. But he never dreamt of calling shots for big screen actors at that time. During his college days, he used to create parody songs of hit numbers to entertain his friends. He worked in a factory Carborundum Universal in Kochi during those days. Then he got opportunity to work for parody cassettes and mimicry shows. His first call to movies was during the period – 1997-98, when spoof skit on James Cameron’s Titanic became a hit. Since then he entertained audience with comic screen presence.

Nadirshah is the mastermind behind Onam Mimicry Cassette – De Maveli Kombathu in 1994. Cine artist Dileep too was associated with Nadirshah for this parody cassette when he was a mimicry artist then. Dileep gave new dimensions to Maveli by giving actor Innocent’s voice in a comic style. Since then many versions of this cassette were released featuring mimicry artists – Harisree Ashokan, Dileep, Salim Kumar and singer Rimi Tomy, who later entered film scene following the success of the album. As a film actor, some of his noted roles are My dear kuttichathan (1997), Karyasthan, Kudamaattam, Ravana Prabhu, Dilliwala Rajakumaran, Kasargod Kadarbhai, Manathe Kottaram, Ezhara Koottam etc.
