He was launched as hero through Tamil movies. He got success through the National award winning Tamil movie Vazhakku Enn 18/9, directed by Balaji Sakthivel. Vazhakku Enn 18/9 marked his Tamil debut too as film hero in a negative shade and the movie was India’s official entry to the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for the year 2012. When the movie was made to Malayalam Mithun reprised the role he played in Tamil. He received good response from audience. Mithun Murali essayed the role of the antagonist in the original Tamil version Vazhakku Enn 18/9 convincingly.
