Mihir Das Biography

Mihir Das is a veteran film actor associated with Odia cinema, and has excelled in lead, supporting and comedian roles. He received state award for Best Actor for his films - Laxmi Pratima in 1998 and Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni in 2005. He is a recipient of state award for best supporting thrice for the movies - Laxmi Protima in 1998, Rakhi Bandhili Mo Rakhiba Mana in 2002 and Prema Adhei Akhyara in 2010. He received state award for Best Comedian award for Mu Tate Love Karuchi in 2007. Thus Das himself proved to be one of the finest actors of Odia cinema in the recent times, excelling in all types of roles.

He joined film scene in the late 1970s, and is still active in Odia cinema. He has done about 100 films in a career spanning to about 4 decades in the Odia film industry. Das hails from Mayurbhanj, born in the year 1953. Cuttack is his hometown. He was married to singer and film artist Sangita Das, daughter of singer Chitta Jena. She passed away in 2010.

School Master – an off stream film released in 1979 marked his acting debut. Mathura Bijay released the same year was his first commercial cinema. Since then he mostly associated with mainstream films, in a career spanning to 4 decades. He gained momentum in the 1990s, though he has been associated with movies since late 1970s. Pua Mora Bholashankar is one of his most memorable roles in the 1990s, and the role gave him a major breakthrough also. After that he played various kinds of roles, winning a total of 6 Film awards awarded by state government.
