Master Shaheed Biography

Master Shaheed is a well-known child actor of Bollywood 1960s, who played child roles in Bollywood classics like Aradhana, Love in Tokyo, Kora Kagaz etc. He played Rajesh Khanna’s childhood role in 1969 Bollywood blockbuster Aradhana, and Joy Mukherjee’s young nephew’s role in 1966 super hit film, Love in Tokyo. Kora Kagaz, Yakeen, Beti Bete, Payal Ki Jhankar, Palki, Aaya Saawan Jhoom ke, Humraaz, Palki, Rakhi, Bachpan, Aurat, Ganga Ki Lahren, Aurat, Pushpanjali etc are a few more films in which he appeared. He was one of the most sought young artists of Bollywood screen in the 1960s, and slowly disappeared from spotlight.   

 

Master Shaheed is the Sibling of actress Baby Farida (Farida Dadi) and Baby Rani, and both actresses have played child roles on Bollywood screen in the 1960s. Master Shaheed rose to prominence in the mid-1960s and was fully engaged in silver screen throughout 1960s. However as he grew up, he faded away from screen soon. But he was immensely popular and a house hold name among Hindi film viewers of classic 1960 era.

 

He played the role of Deepak in 1974 Hindi drama film, Kora Kagaz. It was one among the last known roles he appeared on screen. As a child actor, perhaps he is best known for playing the son of Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore – Sooraj in 1969 blockbuster – Aradhana. He also appeared in the very popular song, Chanda Hai Tu, filmed on Sharmila Tagore (whose character name is Vandana) and her teenage son Sooraj. His character also played an important role in the film. His role in Love in Tokyo was much more meaty role and full-fledged one, and he appeared as one the major characters throughout the film.
