Manisha Malhotra Biography

Manisha Malhotra is an Indian sportswoman who plays the game of tennis. She is a retired professional tennis player who trains youngster in the game. Her highest world ranking was 314 as of 21st April 2003.

 

Manisha was born on 19th September 1976 in Mumbai in India. She represented India in tennis in women’s doubles event with Nirupama Vaidyanathan in 2000 Sydney Olympics but lost in the first round. She was shot into limelight when she won the silver medal at the Busan Asian Games 2002 in the mixed doubles event along with Mahesh Bhupathi. She plays in any surface hard, grass, clay or carpet.

 

In February 2002, she received International Olympic Committee prize for promoting women in sports. She was one of the six proud winners of this prize at the Women and Sports Awards ceremony held at Los Angeles. She received the world trophy for helping the disadvantaged girls and has traveled all over India to support women take part in various sporting events like archery, wrestling, boxing, badminton, shooting and squash, etc.
