Manish Pitambare Biography 
Manish Pitambare was an Army Major and a paratrooper from the Special Forces of the Indian Army who lost his life while leading an operation to nab Mohammad Ashraf Shah, one of the most wanted terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Though the operation was successful the commander of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen's south Kashmir division Manish Pitambare had been shot dead. He was posthumously honoured with Kirti Chakra, India's second-highest peace-time gallantry decoration. He was 31 years old when he sacrificed his life for the country, a short time after he was made a Major.
Manish was born in 1975 in Thane, Maharashtra. He has two brothers. He was a brilliant student in studies who scored 90% marks in Higher Secondary education. His parents wanted him to become a doctor. But Manish nursed a childhood dream to be in the defense services. His parents were against his decision to join defense. However one of his school teachers, Jayshree Jog convinced his parents to let him pursue his heart. He was an NDA cadet of the 1996 batch. He got married to Mugdha and had one daughter. When he faced a brave death for his death, it was only three years since he tied the knot and his daughter was only one and a half years old.
He was to be transferred to a peace zone in a month. But this brave soldier never wanted to be recruited in a peace zone. Earlier he was part of the team that tracked down Al-Badr militant Toufik Akmal, a prime suspect of 7/11 blasts in Mumbai. Just three days before he set for the mission, he sent a sms to his wife saying that he is one a mission and will call her back soon. But Manish didn’t get an opportunity to call her back. Before he was shot dead, he gunned down Suhail Faizal, one of Hizbul Mujahideen's top commanders in Kashmir.
