Lishoy Biography

Lishoy is a noted character actor associated with Malayalam entertainment industry. He is seen in movies as well as television soaps. A well-recognized cine actor, he gained popularity through the mega blockbuster soap opera on Malayalam small screen, Kumkumapoovu, where he enacted the character role of Prabhakar Menon. He is quite recognized as Prabhettan among Malayali mini screen audience. This mega serial aired on Asianet Television made him a popular actor and household name. His daughter Leona Lishoy is also a popular south Indian actress who appears in all south Indian language movies, and known for playing character roles in highly acclaimed movies such as North 24 Kaatham. She was also seen in Kannada movie Balu Loves Nandini and the Tamil movie En Inniya Kalai Malai.

Lishoy hails from Thrissur. He belongs to a business family. He is a part of the Cholayil family in Thrissur, who owns Medimix – the leading the ayurveda soap. Lishoy is married and has two children. His daughter Leona Lishoy is an upcoming film actress, and she shared screen space with her father for the movie, Long Sight (2013), where she played lead role. Lishoy has portrayed character roles in several Malayalam films and television serials. He earned quick recognition playing Professor Jayanthi’s husband Prabhakar Menon for the popular series on Asianet TV Network – Kumkumapoovu, telecasted during the period 2011-2014.

He also appeared in the series Balamani aired on Mazhavil Manorama. As a film actor, perhaps he is best known for playing the grey shaded role of Joseph Alukka, father of Kunchako Boban in Lohitadas’ Kasthooriman. Manichan in Kamal’s Karutha pakshikal was also well noticed. In the 1980s he worked in Muscat before he moved to Malayalam entertainment world. He played Leona Lishoy’s father in the movie, Long Sight.
