Leona Lishoy Biography

Leona Lishoy is an upcoming film actress associated with south Indian film industry. She is a model turned actress and she hails from Thrissur, Kerala. She is the daughter of noted character artist of Malayalam cinema and television, Lishoy, best known as ‘Prabhettan’ by Malayali mini screen audience. Lishoy is quite popular for his role in the mega serial, Kumkumapoovu. She predominantly works in Malayalam cinema and has also appeared in Kannada movie Balu Loves Nandini and the Tamil movie En Inniya Kalai Malai. Supporting role in Malayalam movies North 24 Kaatham and Jawan of Vellimala are her well-noticed works.

She played female lead in 2013 film, Long Sight directed by Ram Raj. She was seen romancing Maqbool Salmaan in the film, where she played the role of a confused city-bred girl in love with a long-sighted artist. She shared screen space with her father for the first time in this movie and Lishoy played Leona’s father. She was earlier seen in a romantic role of Jenny Varghese in the box office flop - Jawan of Vellimala. The movie starred Mammootty in the lead role.

Leone hails from Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala. She originally belongs to Cholayil family - business family which owns Medmix Ayurvedic Bath Soap. Her father Lishoy is a shareholder of the company. Her father worked in Gulf in the 1980s before he settled with Malayalam entertainment field later. Leone was studying in Christ College, Bengaluru when she started modelling as hobby. But very soon she was featured in several TV ads which opened her doors to movies as well.

'Kalikalam' directed by Haridas was her debut film. Her role went unnoticed. She got her big break through Jawan of Vellimala, the movie which marked the directorial debut of Kannan. Her romantic role got noticed. Later she was seen in Perariya Poovu, where she played the character of a teacher.
